  it's been a while, but I'm plugging away on a new Hobbit EP.  Yep, you read it right, a Hobbit EP.
I wanted to make a full album, but that would take an age, but I may still do it.
  My first single is a song I wrote with my sister Michelle Nielson.  It's called "A Tell or Two to Tell." She was actually the one who introduced me to J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth. I first read The Hobbit when I was a wee lass of 13 years.  I ate it up. Then, I read The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I've been hooked ever since.  It's a magical world you can slip into that's filled with old friends you can count on.  I wanted to capture the feeling that millions of us get when we first read those words, "In a hole in the ground there lived a Hobbit." I want to intrigue anyone that has never read those words, to step into a mystical realm with the most unusual cast of lovable heroes you'll ever meet. On September the 21st, 2021, you'll be able to hear "A Tell or Two to Tell" on Spotify, YouTube and every music platform there is in the real world. I hope you tell your friends and maybe even read The Hobbit this fall.  Until then, mellon nin, I'll see you in Nashville.

I'm writing songs for/with Artists who need great songs to record for their new projects. Songs that can make them STAND OUT and BE HEARD and GET A RECORD DEAL or a #1 HIT SONG on the RADIO! So, if you know anyone who needs a great song to show off their talent, then go to my LISTEN TO MUSIC tab and listen to my songs. That's why they are there.
  My New Year's Resolution is to get into some festivals. Said and done. I just got asked to be in the "Edgehill Rocks" festival, April 1st, on Music Row in Nashville! Check the SHOWS tab for dates and times. In late summer, I'll be playing again at Melodica Festival in Reykjavik, Iceland. More festivals are still in the workings :> 
  I'm super excited to be going to the ASCAP EXPO - We Create Music in L.A. this April, too! I love Pop music and want to write some real deal Pop songs this year.

Of course I'll drag them around to all of my favorite haunts here in Nashville like Bobby's Idle Hour, the Commodore Grille, the Maxwell House Hotel, the 5 Spot, the Basement East, Whiskey Rhythm, Back Alley Diner and Kimbros Pickin' Parlor in Franklin, Tn. These are places I frequent because they all have great open mics and show cases for songwriters like me. Also, the folks there are really cool. I love how easy it is to meet people and make friends. I've been writing some interesting songs with Jeremy Staubus, Kelcy Hyde, Sarah J. Michaels, Jessica Nixon, Billy Dawson and Will Duvall this past summer. 
  Here's some news; I have a new 5 song EP coming out next week called, "On Beach Time." This EP will be my business card and you can only get it at my shows. I'll put it up on Soundcloud so you can hear it there. I may release one of them as a single on iTunes, but I'm still debating with myself about that.

I'm breaking up with Netflix and venturing out into the World. Starting with Bobby's Idle Hour, the only Songwriter bar on Music Row.
Then there's Two Old Hippies, an awesome store in the Gulch with a stage and seating, free and all ages! AND THEN, I'll be at the world famous 12th and Porter for a night of music with some fellow East Nash-villans, hosted by Anthony Billups. Check my "Shows" icon for dates and times.
  I've had some good news, too. Sarah J. Michaels is cutting our song, "The Good News." Jessica Nixon is cutting our song, "I'll Back Out," and my talented friend, Jeremy Staubus just cut our song, "Hit The Ground Lovin'!" I'm also writing with a fabulous girl named Kelcy Hyde who's auditioning for "The Voice" next week in Atlanta. Good luck, Kelcy!
  Lastly, I've been going to some great Open Mic's on Tuesdays all across town. Kimbro's in Franklin, TN, sign up by 6 PM, the Blue Bar with Barbara Cloyd, sign up before 9 PM and Douglas Corner with Donnie Winters hosting, call on Tuesday between 1-6 pm, 615-292-2530. 
It is possible to do all three in one night :>
Mon.- Thurs., Debi Champion has an Open Mic after her rounds at the Commodore Grille, sign up by 7PM.  And here's a great secret, show up at Bobby's any time with your guitar. They usually have a guitar pull going on at all times. So, there's no good reason to stay in. See you in Nashville!

I can't believe it's been almost a year since I got my first cut by the ever-so-lovely Natalie Rose. She recorded my song "Promise Me Beautiful." Then, this amazing young man named Jeremy Staubus walked into my life at the Listening Room Cafe in Nashville. We have written 15 songs together and he has recorded 4 of them; "I Don't," "Light it Up," Charlotte," and "The Skirt."  Two years ago, I met and made friends with the adorably talented David Oakleaf. We wrote a song together called "Cue the Rain" which is the title cut of his new CD! So, I'm pretty stoked and curious to see what magical stuff will unfold for me this year! No time like the present and all that. The plan is to wake up, state my deliberate intentions, get dressed (obviously), drive down to a nearby coffee shop (TBA), with notebook and pen, order a latte and write. Why? To bump myself out of this homebody rut I've been wallowing in. To create a new vibe and probably meet some cool people. I notice just now the the word "new" has popped up several times in this writing. I like it.

My booking skills are poor and my hosting abilities are awkward and bumbling to say the least. That being said, I will be hosting the East Side Invasion one last time this Sunday, November 15th. I am a little bit proud of myself for going outside my personality's comfort zone for so long, but I'm ready to crawl back into my moody, introverted, songwriter box and stay there.
